How to reach us

The best way to get in touch is to write us directly. We try to reply within a day or two, though during home projects we sometimes fall behind. Be as specific as you can about what you're working on and what you want to know. The more detail you give us upfront, the more helpful we can be in our reply.

What we don't do

Homeowners reviewing remodel plans and paint swatches at a table — We share what we've learned from our own projects and offer perspective, but we're not design consultants or contractors. We can't draw up plans, source materials, or do the work itself.

Before you write

A few things to keep in mind: we answer questions from our own experience, and that experience is specific to our home and the contractors we've used. Your situation may be different. We're not licensed professionals in any trade, and we can't solve problems remotely or over email the way a contractor or engineer on-site could.

What to expect and when

After you email, you'll get a confirmation. We'll read through your question and think about what we actually know from our own work. If we have something useful to share, we'll write back with our honest take—including what we don't know or what might be different at your place. If it's something beyond our experience, we'll tell you that instead of guessing.
